Calculate your air conditioner's electricity usage and costs
Are you wondering how much your air conditioner is adding to your electricity bill? This calculator helps you estimate the monthly and annual electricity consumption and costs based on your AC specifications and usage patterns. Compare different options to make an informed decision and potentially save thousands of rupees annually.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in India rates air conditioners from 1 to 5 stars based on their energy efficiency. Higher star ratings mean better efficiency and lower electricity consumption.
The calculation uses the formula: Power consumption (kW) = (Capacity in tons × 3.5) / BEE Star Rating. For window ACs, we add 15% to account for typically lower efficiency compared to split ACs.
Higher star-rated ACs use advanced technology and higher quality components to achieve better energy efficiency, which increases their manufacturing cost. However, they save money in the long run through lower electricity bills.
This calculator provides an estimate based on average performance data. Actual consumption may vary based on factors like room insulation, ambient temperature, AC maintenance, and usage patterns.
